BCDP, what was their goal and objectives again? Project Goal: To uplift the standard of living of the people living in Banda, Kampala through provision of safe water, health care, improvement on sanitation, recreation and education activities. Project Objectives: To initiate and encourage the awareness and spirit of community development in Banda parish; particularly in the areas of Primary Health Care, Safe water and sanitation, child and Maternal Health Care, Immunization, Nutrition, Orphans assistance and Environmental cleanliness and vector control. To encourage community participation in seminaries, workshops, Training programmes, and voluntary work aimed at solving the voluntary problems. To initiate and promote capacity building activities like Adult literacy and skill training. To promote recreational activities among the youth and women. Overall BCDP Management: Activities carried out/achievements 1.BCDP managed to oversees volunteers for one year; Edith Muijsers and Reinier Battenberg. 2.Held a workshop on the 12th February with the question; where do we see BCDP in within 6 months. 3.Writing of reports, combining, half year and year reports. 4.Held an action planning on 19th February. 5.Implementation of 6 different sub committees, health, water and sanitation, land and estate, finance, education, recreation, 2 times a month meetings. 6.Implementation of minute’s books, to prevent those minutes disappears. 7.Implementation of the action list for each sub committee. 8.Half a year evaluation on 11th July outcome; several areas of attention, I refer to the report. 9.Workshop reacting on the outcome made a problem tree and discussed about way forwards on 8th September, outcome, training of writing proposals needed. 10.Workshop with the question: who are the donors? Result; a list with donors and their interests. 11.Training, how write logical frameworks. 12.Presentations of the logical frameworks. 13.Training of people how to write proposals for several individual members. 14.In each sub committee, there are members working upon their own proposals. 15.Requested for a new oversees volunteer from ICA, result, successful, Mariel Ellenbroek will work as a volunteer from November 2005- April 2006 as a program advisor. 16.Trained a new project coordinator, Christopher Kaweesi Ronald. 17.Development of new structure; project coordinator is always local; this will be of great benefit for the stability of the project. The oversees volunteer will take the position as the project advisor. The different roles and responsibilities need to be outlined. 18.Sebastian, the bookkeeper became responsible for the collecting the reports BCDP Health section whenever needed. Problems: Security during the night seems not to be enough. Program coordinators, advisors are not always able to reach the files in the administrator’s office, when they want to write their reports. Way Forward: 1)Outline the different roles and responsibilities of The Programme Coordinator and the program advisor. 2)We need to take a inventory of BCDP as a whole 3)Program coordinator needs a key for the office. |
